Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Matthew Goldwater and the reappointment of Samuel Brown and Dr. Hammad Qureshi to the Texas Board of Respiratory Care. Their terms will extend until February 1, 2031.
The Texas Board of Respiratory Care is responsible for advising the Texas Medical Board, creating rules for certifying and permitting respiratory therapists, and setting qualifications and standards for practitioners in the field.
Matthew Goldwater, from Georgetown, works as a senior sales executive specializing in ventilation at Dräger. He is affiliated with the American Association for Respiratory Care and volunteers as an assistant coach with the Georgetown Youth Baseball Association. Goldwater holds a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Texas State University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Tyler.
Samuel Brown, based in Marshall, serves as assistant IT manager and network administrator at Louis A. Williams & Associates. His previous experience includes working as a computer lab technician at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU). Brown has also coached youth basketball and football teams through i20 Sports and the Boys and Girls Club of America. In addition to his professional roles, he is an ordained minister and teaches Teen Ministry at Church On Purpose. Brown earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from ETBU and a Master’s degree in Information Systems from Tarleton State University.
Dr. Hammad Qureshi lives in Tomball and is certified in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine. He participates in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Methodist Hospital The Woodlands, where he also holds an academic position with Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Qureshi completed his medical education at Government College University Lahore (F.Sc.) and King Edward Medical College (MBBS), followed by residency training at the University of West Virginia and fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
