Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) has finalized new multi-year agreements with its airline and cargo partners to set the financial and operational framework for the airport’s next decade of growth. The Airline Use and Lease Agreements and Signatory Cargo Agreements will support AUS’s expansion, including plans for 32 new airline gates.
The agreements provide a structure for how revenues will be generated to support daily operations and fund a multi-billion-dollar capital program at AUS. Participating airlines include Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, FedEx, and UPS. These partners are now committed to long-term operations at the airport under terms that define how fees are assessed for use of facilities such as runways, gates, ticket counters, baggage systems, and aircraft parking.
Major projects covered by these agreements over the next ten years include construction of Concourse B with 26 gates to accommodate passenger growth; a new Arrivals and Departures Hall designed to improve curbside access, expand baggage claim areas, and centralize TSA screening; Concourse M with six additional gates for future capacity; redevelopment of Concourse A in the Barbara Jordan Terminal; and campus-wide utility upgrades to support increased demand.
With rising passenger numbers driving expanded needs from airlines, the total cost estimate for these improvements has grown from $4 billion to more than $5 billion. The agreements aim to ensure cost recovery while supporting long-term investment and financial stability at AUS.
According to airport officials: “Together, these agreements position AUS to support Central Texas’ continued growth, strengthen regional connectivity, and deliver long-term economic benefits for the Austin business community.”
