The U.S. Census Bureau has announced new data-sharing agreements with Brigham Young University-Idaho and the University of North Carolina System for its Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) experimental data product. The PSEO provides information on earnings and employment outcomes for graduates, broken down by degree level, major, institution, and state. This data is used by a range of stakeholders including parents, students, educational institutions, and workforce agencies to understand how graduates fare in the labor market.
With these new partnerships, the PSEO now includes data from 17 additional post-secondary institutions. As a result, the dataset covers 952 institutions nationwide and represents about 35% of all college graduates in the United States.
According to the Census Bureau, “The PSEO are made possible through data-sharing partnerships between universities, university systems, state departments of education, state labor market information offices, and the U.S. Census Bureau.” Users can access this information through various channels such as the PSEO Explorer tool, raw files, and the Census API.
For further details about this program or to access the data tools mentioned above, individuals can visit the PSEO data page on the Census Bureau website.
