Chay Chinsethagid, senior vice president of global IT and FlexRig engineering at Helmerich & Payne, Inc., received the 2025 Executive of the Year Award from the Tulsa Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI) on August 14.

The award was given in recognition of Chinsethagid’s leadership style and his efforts to empower others within the organization. Notably, he has supported his Executive Assistant, Trish Richey, as she took on leadership positions in EWI, including serving on the chapter board and as chapter president.

According to colleagues, Chinsethagid is described as a leader who makes decisions based on data while maintaining transparency and integrity. He is known for combining logical reasoning with courage when addressing difficult decisions. His approach emphasizes building trust and collaboration among team members.

As a servant leader, Chinsethagid prioritizes his team’s success and aims to create an environment where others can excel. Colleagues have noted his positive energy and dedication.

Chinsethagid’s selection for this award highlights both his professional achievements and his commitment to developing leadership within EWI.

Executive Women International is a professional women’s organization with chapters across the United States and Canada. The Tulsa Chapter was established in 1956 and is currently EWI’s largest chapter with 72 member firms represented by executives and other professionals.

Helmerich & Payne has been involved with EWI’s Tulsa Chapter since 1984. The current leadership team includes John Lindsay, Kevin Vann, Cara Hair, Chay Chinsethagid, and Mike Lennox. Representatives include Kari Crowder, Heather Steven, Trish Richey, and Amanda Richardson. The company also maintains ties through retired representatives Jamie Harris and Roberta Montgomery.

This year marks another milestone in H&P’s relationship with EWI; in 1996 Walter H. Helmerich III and Hans Helmerich were jointly recognized as Executives of the Year by the same chapter.
