DC Comics has announced a partnership with Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), the charity supported by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union). The collaboration will last for one year and aims to raise awareness about the impact that trained service dogs can have on people’s lives.

The initiative follows a previous joint effort at San Diego Comic-Con. As part of this new campaign, DC Comics is sponsoring a litter of puppies that will be trained as guide and service dogs. These dogs are expected to assist individuals who are blind or visually impaired, veterans living with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, children with autism, and public institutions through facility dog programs.

For this project, GDA | TLC made an exception to its usual naming practices by allowing the sponsored litter to be named after well-known DC characters. The puppies have been named Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo.

After completing their initial training in puppy pre-kindergarten, these dogs will continue developing skills with volunteer puppy raisers. The goal is for them to provide independence and support to those who need it most.

Supporters can follow the progress of these future service dogs through various events and social media updates over the next year. Additionally, there will be opportunities for fans to meet the puppies at San Diego Comic-Con in July.
