El Paso Electric Company was recognized as a finalist for Utility Brand of the Year at the CHARGE Awards North America, presented during the CHARGE North America Conference in San Antonio, Texas on March 5.

This recognition highlights El Paso Electric’s efforts to serve a diverse customer base through bilingual communications and culturally relevant messaging. The company was noted by CHARGE Awards judges for its commitment to accessibility and inclusive engagement within its communities.

“Being recognized at CHARGE reinforces something we prioritize every day: meeting customers where they are, in the language and tone that feels familiar and respectful,” said Kelly Tomblin, President and CEO of El Paso Electric. “We’re proud of the team behind this work and what it represents—service, trust, and connection across the region.”

The Utility Brand of the Year honor ultimately went to Xcel Energy during this year’s event.

El Paso Electric provides generation, transmission, and distribution services to about 465,000 customers across a 10,000 square mile area from Hatch, New Mexico to Van Horn, Texas. Major cities served include El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The recognition at CHARGE North America reflects ongoing industry attention toward customer-focused communication strategies among energy providers.
