First Lady Cecilia Abbott has announced that the Governor’s Response Against Child Exploitation (GRACE) initiative will host its sixth annual Week of Prayer to End Human Trafficking from January 5 to January 11, 2025. The event, held during Human Trafficking Prevention Month, is a statewide interfaith effort calling on faith communities to unite in prayer, learn about human trafficking, and explore ways to prevent exploitation and support survivors.

“Nothing is stronger than Texans standing together through prayer and action,” said First Lady Abbott. “During this week of prayer, I encourage everyone to take a moment and join GRACE in its efforts to protect the vulnerable and stand against exploitation. Together, we can bring the support, healing, and justice that victims of human trafficking deserve.”

Video messages from First Lady Abbott and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Commissioner Audrey O’Neill invite Texans to participate in the week of prayer. DFPS Director of Human Trafficking Blanca Lance also announced the 2026 Human Trafficking Prevention and Awareness Month guide with resources for communities.

The daily intentions for each day focus on exposing exploiters, recognizing signs of trafficking, supporting trauma-informed investigations, praying for healing for survivors, supporting justice system workers, ensuring safety for those being exploited, and discerning personal actions against human trafficking.

The Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott leads various community initiatives across the state including those focused on child sex trafficking prevention as part of broader security efforts such as Operation Lone Star. The office operates from Austin’s State Insurance Building as part of the executive branch of Texas government. Governor Greg Abbott has led this office since his election in 2014 and it is recognized for advancing economic development and public safety priorities statewide.
