Governor Greg Abbott announced on Mar. 20 a series of appointments and reappointments to various state boards, commissions, and advisory committees across Texas.
The appointments are intended to fill key roles in agencies that oversee public safety, health, workforce development, and other important areas for Texans. These selections reflect the governor’s ongoing efforts to ensure qualified individuals serve in positions that impact communities statewide.
David Broom was appointed as District Attorney of the 2nd Judicial District in Cherokee County for a term ending December 31, 2026. Eric Davis was reappointed to the Commercial Oyster Mariculture Advisory Board until February 1, 2031, with Bradley “Brad” Lomax named chair for a second term. The Podiatric Medical Examiners Advisory Board saw Jose Ayala, D.P.M., and Rahul Patel appointed alongside the reappointment of Joe E. Martin, Jr., D.P.M., all serving until February 1, 2031.
Nelda Luce Blair was reappointed to the Public Safety Commission through January 1, 2032. Terry Zrubek joined the State Employee Charitable Campaign Policy Committee with a term expiring September 1, 2027. Ben Scholz was appointed and Jimmie Ruth Evans, Barret J. Klein, Joe Leathers, and Thomas “Tommy” Oates were reappointed to the Texas Animal Health Commission until September 6, 2031.
Other appointments include Tycom Wright to the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (term ending February 1, 2029), Dakota Marks to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (until February 1, 2031), Larry Levine and LeElle Slifer (with Sandra Hagee Parker reappointed) to the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Committee (until February 1, 2031), Brent Taylor and Megan Mauro as Co-Chairs of the Texas Jobs Council along with several new members; Shane Bailey M.D. and Jennifer Wegenhoft were also appointed to the Texas Physician Assistant Board through February 1, 2029.
