Governor Abbott appoints Barry Wallace as Upshur County Criminal District Attorney

Barry Wallace has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott as the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney. The appointment is effective November 1, 2025, and will last until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Wallace currently serves as the first assistant for the Upshur County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. He is affiliated with several professional organizations including the State Bar of Texas, Texas District and County Attorneys Association, and the Northeast Texas Bar Association. Wallace also participates in community activities through St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Men’s Association.

He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Wallace holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from East Texas A&M University (formerly East Texas State University) and earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University.
