Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Jonathan Richey as Judge of the 369th Judicial District Court, which serves Anderson, Cherokee, and Leon Counties. The appointment is effective until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Jonathan Richey currently serves as the Cherokee County District Attorney. He has previously worked as first assistant district attorney and assistant county attorney for Cherokee County. His professional affiliations include membership in the Texas District and County Attorney Association, Cherokee County Bar Association, and the Federalist Society.

Richey also participates in several community organizations. He is a board member of The Crisis Center Of Anderson and Cherokee Counties, Volunteer Council for the Rusk State Hospital Board, Cherokee County Child Fatality Review Board, and the Rusk Education Foundation.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas A&M University and earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
