Governor Abbott appoints three members to Texas Medical Board district review committees

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed three individuals to serve on the Texas Medical Board (TMB) District Review Committees. Sharon Carr and Dr. Mark Edwards have been named to the District Three Review Committee, with terms ending January 15, 2026, and January 15, 2028, respectively. Dr. David Lindzey has been appointed to the District Four Review Committee for a term expiring January 15, 2030.

Sharon Carr is retired and resides in Canadian. She previously directed the Hemphill County Juvenile Bootcamp and currently serves as vice president of the board for Hemphill County Hospital. Carr also volunteers with Meals on Wheels. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Mark Edwards is based in Sonora and serves as medical director at Shannon Clinic Urgent Care Centers. He is certified by both the American Board of Family Medicine and the Board of Certification in Urgent Care Medicine under the American Board of Physician Specialties. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine and a member of the Southern Medical Association. In addition to his medical roles, he sits on the advisory board for the Health Environmental Learning Program and serves as president and trustee at Lighthouse Community Church of Sonora. Edwards earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Texas A&M University and his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.

Dr. David Lindzey practices medicine at Ascension Physician Group in Spicewood. He is affiliated with the Texas Medical Association and has previously served on boards for both the Texas Hospital Association and Volunteer Hospitals of America. Lindzey received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from The University of Texas at Austin before earning his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Medical Center.

The appointments reflect Governor Abbott’s ongoing efforts to staff key positions within state health oversight bodies.
