Governor Greg Abbott appointed Larry Levine and LeElle Slifer and reappointed Sandra Hagee Parker to the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Committee for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031, according to a Mar. 20 announcement. The committee is responsible for conducting studies on anti-Semitism in Texas, assisting schools, and working with public and private organizations to provide information and engage in educational activities across the state.

The appointments are significant as the committee plays a key role in addressing issues of anti-Semitism and promoting education about the Holocaust and other genocides. By supporting schools and collaborating with organizations statewide, the committee aims to foster greater understanding and awareness of these important topics.

Larry Levine of Houston is chairman of Levcor, Inc., a member of several professional organizations including the International Council of Shopping Centers, Coronado Club, and Texas A&M University’s Association of Former Students. He served in the United States Army Military Police Corps before earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.

LeElle Slifer from Dallas is a partner at King & Spalding Dallas. She holds memberships in the State Bar of Texas, New York State Bar, and Federalist Society. Slifer earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University with a focus on Developmental Neuropsychology and Political Science along with a Certificate in Judaic Studies before receiving her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.

Sandra Hagee Parker of San Antonio serves as chairwoman for the Board of CUFI Action Fund, sits on the board for Aid the Silent, and is also a member of the State Bar of Texas. Her academic background includes degrees from Trinity University (Political Science), an Executive Master from Texas A&M’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, as well as a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s School of Law.

According to the official website, Governor Abbott’s office has contributed to job growth in Texas leading to record employment levels. The office maintains its primary location at Austin’s State Insurance Building according to official sources. Governor Abbott was recognized among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2024 according to official sources. His administration has focused on job creation, economic opportunities, education enhancement, protection of individual liberties, parental empowerment in schooling decisions, and southern border security according to official sources.
