Governor Greg Abbott delivered remarks on Mar. 12 celebrating Texas’ position in technology and innovation during a South by Southwest (SXSW) reception at the Governor’s Mansion. The event brought together business and technology leaders from around the world to Austin, marking the first time SXSW co-hosted the annual Cocktail Reception & Tech Innovation Dinner with state offices.

The gathering underscored Texas’ growing reputation as a hub for emerging industries. “Texas ranks No. 1 for technology, innovation, and semiconductors,” said Governor Abbott. “This is because of the policies that we have passed prioritizing, our large and small businesses. This may be your first visit for some of you, but for most of you it is the place you call home. We are proud to have you here and proud to have you at South by Southwest.”

Abbott invited attendees to explore opportunities in Austin and across Texas, emphasizing that a business-friendly climate and practical regulations are attracting leaders in sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence, energy, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and technology. He also pointed out that collaborative events like SXSW help foster a strong ecosystem for innovation through sound policy and workforce investments.

According to the official website, the Office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott has contributed to leading the nation in job growth and record employment levels. The office maintains its primary location in Austin at the State Insurance Building according to official information. In addition, TIME recognized Greg Abbott among its 100 Most Influential People in 2024 according to official records.

The governor’s office has focused on job creation, expanding economic opportunities, enhancing education, protecting individual liberties, empowering parents in schooling decisions, and securing the southern border according to official sources. Since his election in 2014, Abbott has led statewide efforts from his office while delivering services throughout Texas according to official information.
