Governor Greg Abbott participated in a volunteer appreciation luncheon in Kerrville, where he helped serve meals to those who assisted with the rebuilding of the Dietert Center after severe flooding in July. The event was organized by Hunt. Fish. Feed. and Spectrum, both of which played roles in providing food and support during the recovery process.
During his remarks at the luncheon, Governor Abbott addressed the volunteers directly: “You are the heart and soul of the community,” said Governor Abbott. “Whether you live here, work here, or eat here, you depend on the people here. This is your home, and we all have a collective goal — and that is to ensure you are going to be safe and secure permanently in your home right here in Kerr County. We’re going to be here every day, every step of the way, until we completely rebuild this entire region.”
Governor Abbott emphasized that Texas is focusing on rebuilding efforts by relying on community cooperation and volunteer work following the flood damage. He also stated that state agencies continue to support ongoing recovery operations for communities affected by flooding across Texas. Additionally, he thanked Hunt. Fish. Feed. and Spectrum for their assistance during these efforts.
Other officials attending included Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Representative Wes Virdell, Dietert Center Executive Director Brenda Thompson, Hunt. Feed. Fish. Director of Marketing Dave Munroe, Spectrum Communications Vice President of Government Affairs Ned Munoz, along with other state and local representatives.
Additional photographs from the event are expected to be made available at a later date.
