Governor Greg Abbott hosted U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Joseph Popolo, U.S. Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose, and U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Nicholas Merrick at the Governor’s Mansion to discuss matters related to transatlantic security and economic development.

The meeting focused on Texas’ investments in advanced manufacturing and its leadership in areas such as artificial intelligence, defense innovation, semiconductor capacity, and aerospace. “The United States and its allies stand strong against bad actors,” said Ambassador Whitaker, thanking Governor Abbott for his efforts. The discussion also highlighted the importance of ongoing partnerships between Texas and allied countries to bolster national security.

Energy policy was another topic of interest during the talks. The participants discussed Texas’ comprehensive energy approach, including recent initiatives aimed at advancing nuclear energy through the creation of the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office and the Texas Advanced Nuclear Development Fund. These measures are designed to encourage further development of nuclear energy within the state. The Ambassadors agreed on the significance of robust energy generation for industries vital to defense, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.

The Ambassadors’ visit was part of a two-day tour across Texas that included meetings with major manufacturers in several cities.
