Governor Greg Abbott has informed Texans of available safety resources and protocols in response to recent military actions in the Middle East that could affect American civilians. The Governor’s statement comes as tensions rise in the region, prompting concerns for the safety of Americans both domestically and abroad.

Texans who require immediate help are advised to contact the U.S. Department of State by calling 1-202-501-4444 from outside the United States or 1-888-407-4747 from within the country. Assistance is also available through the Texas Fusion Center at 1-844-927-0521.

“The safety and well-being of Texans are paramount,” said Governor Abbott. “Now more than ever, Texans must remain vigilant and follow the guidance of U.S. officials as military action continues overseas. The State of Texas is actively coordinating with our federal partners to safeguard Texans abroad and at home from hostile foreign actors.”

Governor Abbott and state officials have outlined several steps for personal safety:

– Monitor travel advisories and security alerts from the U.S. Department of State and local embassies.
– Register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive real-time updates.
– Maintain communication with family members about your location and plans.
– Avoid areas under active security alerts or regions experiencing violence.
– Follow all instructions issued by federal or local authorities, including shelter-in-place or travel restrictions.
– Keep important documents accessible, emergency contacts updated, and ensure reliable communication methods.

The Governor’s Office, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), will continue monitoring developments and work with federal agencies to provide timely information as events unfold.
