Governor Greg Abbott announced on Apr. 2 the reappointment of Aaron Kinsey as chair of the Texas State Board of Education for a term ending April 1, 2028.
Kinsey is currently the representative for SBOE District 15 and serves as CEO of American Patrols, Inc., an aviation services company. He previously served in the U.S. Air Force from 2005 to 2014, flying 120 combat missions in the C-130 and teaching pilot training courses. Kinsey has chaired the board since 2023 and is also chair of the Committee on Strategic Planning and Policy for the Permanent School Fund Corporation, which manages $60 billion in investments supporting Texas education.
In addition to his work with the board, Kinsey participates in several organizations including serving on the Texas Public Policy Foundation Liberty Leadership Council and formerly being part of both the Adam Smith Society Host Committee and Redeemer Midland Church’s community group leadership. He holds degrees from Texas A&M University and Harvard Business School.
