Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Judy Parker as Chief Justice of the Seventh Court of Appeals, with her term set to expire on December 31, 2026.

Parker, who is from Lubbock, currently serves as the Place 2 Justice on the Seventh Court of Appeals. She is a founding member and judicial master of the Texas Tech University School of Law American Inn of Court and serves as a director for the Panhandle Family Law Association. Her professional affiliations include membership in the State Bar of Texas, Lubbock Area Bar Association, The Federalist Society, and Amarillo Area Bar Association. In addition to her legal work, Parker acts as a trustee for The CH Foundation and is involved with several community organizations such as the Junior League of Lubbock and First Baptist Church – Lubbock.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Government from Angelo State University and obtained her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.

Governor Abbott leads the executive office for Texas state government, focusing on economic development, education enhancement, border security efforts, job growth initiatives, individual liberties protection, parental empowerment in schooling decisions, and statewide services delivery.
