More than 3,200 members of IAM Union District 837 at Boeing Defense in the St. Louis area are set to vote on a revised contract offer from the company on Sunday, August 3, starting at 10 a.m. Central Time. If union members reject the modified proposal, a strike is scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, August 4.
The new offer from Boeing includes several changes compared to its previous proposal. The company has withdrawn its Alternative Workweek Schedule (AWS) proposal, meaning that current overtime policies will remain in place. Employees at the maximum pay rate would receive an additional annual 50 cents per hour. For pension-eligible workers, there is now a full $10 pension multiplier increase in the first year instead of splitting it into $5 increases over two years; this benefit applies to those retiring after January 1, 2026.
Other elements of the proposed contract remain unchanged, including a proposed 20% wage increase over the life of the agreement, a $5,000 ratification bonus, as well as vacation and sick leave policies and healthcare benefits.
This upcoming vote follows an earlier rejection by union members of Boeing’s previous contract offer on July 27.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) represents about 600,000 active and retired members across various industries such as aerospace, defense, airlines, shipbuilding, railroad, transit, healthcare, and automotive throughout the United States and Canada. “IAM Union District 837 members will have another opportunity to decide their future with this revised offer,” said an IAM spokesperson.
