The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers announced on March 24 that new staff representatives are participating in the union’s Foundational Skills Program at the Winpisinger Center.

The program aims to prepare a new generation of IAM leaders by focusing on essential skills needed to serve members. This training is considered important for ensuring that staff can address the evolving needs of union members and uphold core responsibilities.

According to the announcement, participants in the program are learning about contract enforcement, member representation, legal issues, local administration, and modern communication. The curriculum is designed to provide practical tools for success in their roles within the field.

By equipping new staff with these foundational skills, IAM seeks to strengthen its capacity for effective member service and leadership development. The initiative reflects an ongoing effort by the organization to adapt its training programs for changing workplace environments.

Looking ahead, IAM plans to continue offering such educational opportunities as part of its commitment to building power among members through well-prepared representatives.
