IAM Local 318 leader Joseph Rumrey, who represents Boston-based rail workers at Keolis, recently took part in a leadership training session at the IAM Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The training brought together about 14 union representatives from various parts of the United States.

The program is designed to provide participants with practical skills necessary for their roles. It places particular emphasis on developing expertise in claims writing and preparation for legal investigations. According to organizers, these skills are considered essential for effectively representing union members and handling workplace disputes.

In addition to individual development, the training aligns with the broader goals of the IAM rail division. These include efforts to secure funding for commuter rail services and to advocate for the expansion of high-speed rail infrastructure nationwide.
