IAM Union members and supporters of Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC) recently held a fundraising event in Las Vegas to support the organization’s mission. The gathering included various activities such as a sporting clay shoot, race car driving, ax throwing, golf, and a gala dinner. These events aimed to raise funds for providing service dogs to people who are blind or have PTSD and autism.

Brian Bryant, IAM International President, thanked participants and sponsors for their support. “The entire IAM Executive Council is grateful for the large turnout of participants and sponsors, particularly members of the IAM Union from different territories, for their fundraising efforts,” Bryant said.

The Saturday night gala dinner had a baseball theme and was attended by more than 1,000 supporters. During the event, this year’s “Gift of Sight” awards were presented to David Sullivan (IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President), Arthur Maratea (TCU/IAM National President), and Southwest Airlines.

Speakers at the event discussed how service dogs change lives. A Canadian military veteran shared his personal story about his PTSD service dog named Oakley.
