Samsung has announced a $1 million donation to aid flood relief efforts in Texas, selecting the Rebuild Texas Fund, managed by the OneStar Foundation, as the primary recipient. The fund collaborates with local leaders and organizations to identify community priorities and address unmet needs in affected areas. Of the total donation, $900,000 will be distributed through the Rebuild Texas Fund.
The remaining amount—up to $100,000—is allocated for Samsung’s employee giving program. This initiative includes corporate matching contributions to three community funds: Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country flood relief fund and Central Texas Community Foundation. The latter is working with Travis and Williamson Counties to manage donations for Travis County Cares and Wilco Cares.
Bonyoung Koo, president of Samsung Austin Semiconductor, stated: “Our hearts are with the communities and families who have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding in Texas. As a proud Texas-based company for nearly 30 years, we are deeply committed to supporting our neighbors and helping them recover from these devastating floods.”
Flooding throughout July has caused severe damage across 21 counties in Texas and resulted in multiple fatalities.
Chris Bugbee, president and CEO of OneStar Foundation, said: “Samsung and Texas have a strong partnership that goes beyond business. Samsung is dedicated to Texans and they’re deeply rooted in our state. With this donation they will help provide much-needed assistance to those who need it most.”
Samsung employees have also participated as volunteers at flood recovery sites as part of the company’s #WeChipIn initiative.
Samsung Austin Semiconductor employs about 4,500 people in Central Texas. The facility produces advanced semiconductor technologies used in products such as mobile devices, networking equipment, automotive systems, and consumer electronics.
