TDHCA board approves nearly $10 million in emergency solutions grants across Texas

At its meeting on September 4, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Governing Board approved 88 awards for the 2025 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding cycle. The total amount allocated is approximately $9.8 million, which will be distributed to organizations that help people experiencing homelessness or those at risk of becoming homeless.

The ESG funds are intended for street outreach, emergency shelter, rapid re-housing efforts, and homelessness prevention. This includes support such as housing relocation and short- and medium-term rental assistance.

Organizations in several Continuum of Care Regions across Texas will receive funding. Notable allocations include $833,343 for the City of San Antonio/Bexar County; $645,019 for the City of Austin/Travis County; $1,312,422 for Dallas and Irving/Dallas County; $642,630 for Fort Worth/Arlington/Tarrant County; $266,935 for El Paso City/El Paso County; and $1,455,363 for Houston area cities including Pasadena and Conroe along with Harris, Ft. Bend, and Montgomery Counties. Other regions such as Waco/McLennan County, Amarillo, Wichita Falls area counties, Lubbock County, Bryan/College Station/Brazos Valley region also received specified amounts. The Texas Balance of State region was awarded $4,102,451.
