The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has introduced a new Quick Check Eligibility Tool designed to help potential homebuyers assess their eligibility for down payment assistance and affordable mortgage loan options. The tool is available at no cost and can be accessed through the TDHCA Homebuyer Program.

According to TDHCA, users only need a few minutes to use the tool, which evaluates credit history, income, and savings to determine qualification for assistance programs. “A few minutes is all that’s needed to help potential homebuyers determine if they qualify for down payment assistance and affordable mortgage loan options. And it’s FREE!” the department stated.

The Homebuyer Program provides down payment and closing cost assistance via a network of approved mortgage lenders. These resources are intended to help bridge financial gaps for those seeking to purchase a home.

After using the Quick Check Eligibility Tool, individuals may be connected with an approved lender who can offer guidance on mortgage options as well as support with down payment and closing costs. More information about the program is available at WelcomeHome.texas.gov.
