Governor Greg Abbott has announced the 15 Texas communities that will host the 2026 Governor’s Small Business Summit events. The summits are designed to support small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs by connecting them with resources and information to help start, strengthen, and grow their businesses.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the Texas economy,” said Governor Abbott. “With more than 3.5 million small businesses across our state employing nearly half of all working Texans, Texas continues to lead the nation as the top state for job creation. I congratulate the communities selected to host a Governor’s Small Business Summit and encourage small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs to participate. By connecting Texans with the tools, resources, and partnerships they need to grow their businesses, we will spur continued economic expansion across every region.”

The summits will feature sessions that bring together local, state, and federal resource partners who will provide insights on key business topics. Participants will also have opportunities to network with other business owners and meet experts offering advice on various aspects of running a small business.

Registration is now open for the first two summit locations in Allen (April 2) and Cuero (April 16). Registration for additional locations—including Mission, Tyler, Laredo, Pasadena, Graham, Copperas Cove, Midland, Pflugerville, Nacogdoches, Brewster County, Dalhart, El Campo, and Midlothian—will open three months before each event.

For more details or to register for an event or inquire about hosting future summits, interested parties can visit gov.texas.gov/events.

The Office of Small Business Assistance within the Office of the Governor provides further support through its Business Permit Office. This office helps entrepreneurs navigate permitting and regulatory requirements in Texas. The 2026-2027 Texas Business Licenses & Permits Guide offers information on required state-level licenses or permits for specific activities.

According to information from the official website of Texas Governor Greg Abbott (https://gov.texas.gov/), his office leads statewide economic development efforts and supports initiatives that contribute to job growth in Texas. The governor’s office operates from Austin at the State Insurance Building as part of the executive branch of state government.
