Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced the distribution of $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February. This amount is 2.5 percent higher than the allocations made in February 2025.

According to Hancock, “These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2025 sales by businesses that report tax annually.”

Cities will receive $963.4 million, which is a 2.9 percent increase compared to last year, and counties will get $95.1 million, up 5.8 percent from February 2025. Transit systems are allocated $309.4 million, representing a decrease of 0.7 percent from the previous year but a year-to-date increase of 1.3 percent. Special purpose districts will receive $156.8 million, marking a 4.7 percent rise over last year and a year-to-date growth of 7.6 percent.

The full breakdown of allocations for individual cities, counties, transit systems, and special purpose districts can be found in the Comptroller’s Monthly Sales Tax Allocation Comparison Summary Reports.
