Texas Mutual Insurance Company has distributed more than $9 million in grants to 124 nonprofit organizations across Texas this year. The funding was provided through two separate Request for Proposal (RFP) initiatives, with the aim of supporting projects that contribute to a stronger and safer Texas.
Applications for both grant cycles were evaluated by Texas Mutual employee volunteers, who assessed proposals based on their alignment with the company’s mission. The community affairs team worked to ensure an equitable distribution of funds throughout the state.
The first grant cycle focused on generational learning, awarding over $4.5 million to 66 organizations. These grants supported efforts to improve health and wellness among Texas employees and their families, strengthen early childhood education systems, and provide comprehensive support services for families.
Among the recipients in Austin are the Andy Roddick Foundation, Any Baby Can, AVANCE-Austin, CASA of Travis County, Communities in Schools of Central Texas, EGBI, half Helen, and Saint Louise House.
The second grant cycle targeted workforce development and safety training. Grants were awarded to organizations providing training in safe work practices for high-risk industries, developing pathways to middle-skill jobs in demand, and offering upskilling opportunities through earn-and-learn programs.
Seven Austin-based nonprofits received support under this initiative: The Arc of the Capital Area, Austin Ed Fund, Easterseals Lonestar, Good Work Austin, Goodwill Central Texas, Literacy Coalition of Central Texas, and Skillpoint Alliance.
“We’re honored to be partnering with inspiring nonprofits in Austin and throughout the state to create a brighter future in the communities we call home,” according to a statement from Texas Mutual Insurance Company.
