Texas Mutual Insurance Company, the largest provider of workers’ compensation insurance in Texas, recently completed its annual Month of Giving. The initiative, now in its fifth year and held in partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), involved employees volunteering across four cities: Austin, Houston, Dallas, and Lubbock.
During October, 389 Texas Mutual employees contributed a total of 1,347 volunteer hours to support 47 local organizations. Activities included preparing meals for families at Ronald McDonald House locations in multiple cities and helping at food pantries such as El Buen Samaritano and Central Texas Food Bank. Volunteers also participated in family events with Generation SERVE to create items for Central Texas nonprofits.
In Austin, employees assisted residents at Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ Community First! Village by working in gardens and tending to animals. Other efforts included assembling thank-you gifts for Texas Search and Rescue staff who supported recovery during recent flooding, hosting appreciation lunches for teachers at Wayside Schools, supporting children’s activities at Foundation Communities and Texas Children’s Hospital, and organizing food distributions.
Houston-based volunteers served lunch to families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston and prepared healthy lunches for Kids’ Meals. They also helped assemble hygiene kits for Project C.U.R.E., benefiting children in under-resourced areas.
Dallas teams prepared dinners for families at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and hosted events supporting Catch Up & Read as well as the Humane Society of North Texas. Employees also engaged with participants from My Possibilities by sharing information about Texas Mutual and joining their classes.
In Lubbock, highlights included hosting a Make-A-Wish celebration for a young girl receiving a trip to Walt Disney World and supporting veterans through the Texas South Plains Honor Flight send-off luncheon. Volunteers also worked with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock on projects like making bookmarks and writing holiday cards for service members.
A spokesperson from Texas Mutual stated: “It’s because of our employees and amazing community partners across the state that we’re able to build a stronger, safer and brighter future for our neighbors. During our Month of Giving and throughout the year, we’re grateful for our employees’ volunteer spirit and all our partners who share in our mission.”
