Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent more emergency management personnel to Arizona to help with flood recovery efforts. The move follows a request from Arizona’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs.

“Texans are no strangers to the devastating effects caused by severe weather,” said Governor Abbott. “Today, I directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to deploy additional personnel to further support Arizona as they rebuild and recover from recent flooding. Texas will continue to assist our fellow Americans in their time of need.”

The Texas Division of Emergency Management has deployed staff specializing in logistics, planning, and disaster finance. These teams will support Arizona’s Emergency Operations Center and field operations during the ongoing response and recovery process.

This latest deployment adds to a previous group of Texas emergency management personnel that was sent last week for the same purpose.

The assistance is organized through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which allows states to share resources and support each other during disasters or emergencies. EMAC provides a framework for states to offer aid across state lines, protect deployed personnel, and receive reimbursement for mission-related expenses. More information about EMAC can be found at https://www.emacweb.org/.

This action comes while Texas continues its own recovery operations following flooding events in July.
