Texas has reached new records for both the number of people working and the size of its labor force, according to data released by Governor Greg Abbott. The announcement highlights continued growth in Texas employment and job creation, with the state outpacing national trends.

Governor Abbott stated, “Texas offers boundless opportunities for hardworking Texans and innovative entrepreneurs to thrive. We see proof of that promise as more Texans are working than ever in the history of our great state. Thanks to the strength of our economy and our skilled workforce, we continue to attract new business investments and spur job growth across dynamic and diverse industries. Texas is where the future is being built.”

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for November shows that Texas’ labor force reached a record high at 15,938,500 people. The number of employed Texans, including those self-employed, also hit a record at 15,264,700. Nonfarm jobs in Texas totaled 14,321,000 after an increase of 7,300 positions during the month.

Over a one-year period from November 2024 to November 2025, Texas gained 146,300 jobs—more than any other state—and exceeded the national annual job growth rate by 0.4 percentage points. The unemployment rate in Texas stood at 4.2%, which is below the national average of 4.6%.
