The U.S. Census Bureau has released the 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS), offering data on job creation and destruction, as well as establishment births and deaths, and firm startups and shutdowns across the U.S. economy. The BDS provides an annual time series covering the period from 1978 to 2023.

Users can access this information through the BDS website, the Census API, or BDS Explorer. The BDS Explorer tool allows users to view the full dataset with various visualizations such as line charts, bar charts, and thematic maps. It also features a dashboard for constructing tables and charts to compare different measures of business dynamics.

For more details about the data or to use these tools, visit the BDS or BDS Explorer websites.
