A local physician in Weimar is inviting residents to join the town’s first anniversary Walk with a Doc Texas event. The initiative encourages people to participate in regular walks led by physicians, where participants can ask health-related questions and receive support from medical professionals.

The program is free and does not require preregistration. Future walk dates will be posted on the chapter’s Walk with a Doc website.

Walk with a Doc Texas operates under a national nonprofit aimed at promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles. In Texas, the effort receives support from the Texas Medical Association (TMA). TMA represents over 59,000 physicians and medical students statewide and has been working to improve health in Texas since 1853. The organization is based in Austin and consists of 110 component county medical societies.

Funding for Walk with a Doc Texas in 2025 comes from the TMA Foundation, which is supported by TMA Insurance Trust as well as contributions from institutions, physicians, and their families. More information about these efforts can be found on the TMA Foundation website.

“TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans,” according to information provided by the association.
